Our story
The software StereoDiver was born in 2016 at Galgo Medical SL, in collaboration with Hospital del Mar of Barcelona and the Institut Hospital del Mar d’Investigacions Mèdiques (IMIM), with support from Obra Social “la Caixa”.
Our clinical motivation has always been clear: to assist clinicians in planning epilepsy surgeries, reducing both the complexity and the risks of the process.
In 2019, with funding from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, the platform was deployed in leading epilepsy surgery centers across Spain.
At the end of 2023, StereoDive Medical SL was founded by a team of pioneers with decades of combined experience in medical imaging. Since then, the company has been advancing through CE marking regulation and has been recognized for the second year in a row by El Referente—Spain’s leading innovation and startup magazine—as one of the 100 most promising startups in the country.
Our vision
Our vision is to make stereotactic neurological treatment safer, faster, and more accessible—empowering clinicians to improve patient outcomes and advance clinical research. We pursue this through three pillars:
-Collaboration. Connecting disciplines seamlessly
-Integration. Unifying all imaging in one environment
-Safety. Minimizing risk with avascular path planning
Looking ahead, StereoDiver aspires to evolve into a predictive digital twin of the patient’s brain—providing advanced simulations to further enhance personalized treatment.

Our activities
StereoDive actively participates in cutting-edge research collaborations across Europe and beyond, advancing planning methods for neurological interventions such as epilepsy and anorexia.
We collaborate with leading hospitals — nationally (Hospital del Mar, Barcelona; Hospital La Fe, Valencia) and internationally (Saint Louis Hospital, USA) — and our ambition is to expand globally.
StereoDive also contributes to the scientific and social dissemination of neurological practice, participating in major congresses such as:
-EANS (European Association of Neurosurgical Societies Congress)
-WFNS (World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies Congress)
-SENFE (Congreso de la Sociedad Española de Neurocirugía Funcional y Estereotáctica)
-euLITT (European LITT Society Congress)
-ILAE (International League Against Epilepsy Congress)
We also engage with the public through initiatives like the acclaimed “Talking Brains” exhibition at CosmoCaixa (2018).
Looking forward, our research and technology will continue to expand to support other neurological interventions, including DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) and LITT (Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy).
Reference Hospital
The Epilepsy Unit of Hospital del Mar, led by Dr. Rodrigo Rocamora is a centre of maximum complexity and has been distinguished in Catalonia by CtSalut as a reference centre for Epilepsy Surgery and by the Ministry of Health as a national reference centre for refractory epilepsy CSUR. At the international level, it is a European reference network (ERN) and is part of the Epi-CARE network. This recognition is determined by the European Commission itself to those centres of exellence that represent the highest scientific and professional standard in the area. It is also part of the Epilepsy network which is the pan-European network of the most important epilepsy surgery centres.
It has been used in Hospital del Mar to assist in the planning of over 150 sEEG and 40 LiTT procedures.
